Our Centre

Welcome to L.I.F.E or the Leuven Institute for Fertility and Embryology. The institute was founded in 1984 and offers a very wide and complete spectrum of clinical services. Among services offered are hormonal treatments, operative treatments using microsurgery or endoscopical intervention and assisted procreation including the possibility of pre-implantation diagnostics which was introduced recently.

Apart from these clinical activities, LIFE has also shown a particularly deep interest in scientific research. This has resulted in the improvement of a minimally invasive examination method, the transvaginal laparoscopy, and the creation of international networks to promote further scientific research. Since 1984 our main purpose has been to take care of patients in the most efficient way. The L.I.F.E Institute focuses on two important areas of work:

• The medical centre for fertility diagnostics and IVF & ET that serves as a consultancy. Here patients receive personal advice in a pleasant atmosphere far from the day-to-day business of the hospital. This is also where the general secretariat is located.
• The Unit for Reproductive Medicine (URG), located in the regional hospital Heilig Hart. This is where you will find the IVF- and ET laboratory, oocyte punction room, the embryo transfer rooms, the ambulant endoscopical unit and the day surgical admission.
