To all our
patients
Dear Madam,
Dear Sir,
As you may have noticed already on this website, there is, in a new
infrastructure at the regional hospital Heilig Hart in Leuven, an extension of the
patient care in our department of reproductive medicine. In addition to
most surgical procedures and the egg aspirations and embryo transfers
associated with in vitro fertilization, we welcome you there from May
13, 2013 for fertility consultations and follow-ups as well. The new
central phone number over there is 016/209030 (please dial +32 16
209030 for international calls). Click
here
to find a pdf card with more practical details.
The private consultations however will continue at the Tiensevest 168
and to optimize this part of our patient care, you can reach the private
secretariat of LIFE directly on the phone number 016/270198 (please dial
+32 16 270198 for international calls).
We will make every effort to offer you optimal medical care during this
period of transition. In case of questions don't hesitate to contact us,
either via the private line or at the hospital, for further explanation
and guidance.
Yours faithfully,
The LIFE team
Our
mission
We are definitely not
the biggest fertility and IVF centre in the region, but in Flemish
Brabant we are the only fully licensed centre for reproductive medicine
in a private (i.e. non-university based) hospital. We want to help
you with the most advanced fertility treatments available in a caring
and compassionate environment, where each patient is treated as an
individual. If you're having difficulty getting pregnant, it's important
to know you're not alone. Besides a precise diagnosis and clear
planning, after a fertility exploration with the least possible
interference with your professional activities and in the shortest
possible time span, the whole team will put every effort in helping you
to become a parent. That is our ambition and we are good at it.
Our Centre
Welcome to LIFE,
i.e. the Leuven Institute for Fertility and Embryology. The institute was founded in 1984 and offers a
broad and complete spectrum of clinical services. Among these services offered are hormonal treatments, operative treatments using microsurgery or endoscopic
surgery and assisted procreation including the possibility of ICSI,
blastocyst culture and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD or PGS).
Apart from these clinical activities, LIFE has also shown a particular interest in scientific research. This has resulted in the improvement of a minimally invasive examination method, the transvaginal laparoscopy, and the creation of international networks to promote further scientific research. Since 1984 our main purpose has been to take care of patients in the most efficient way. LIFE focuses on two important areas of work:
 |
- The
medical centre for fertility diagnosis with all the consultation
facilities. Here patients receive personal advice in a pleasant
and private atmosphere far from the hospital. This
is also where the general secretariat is located.
|
 |
- The
Unit for Reproductive Medicine (in Dutch Unit voor Reproductieve
Geneeskunde or URG), located in the regional hospital
Heilig Hart. This is where you will find the IVF laboratory, the oocyte
retrieval room, the embryo transfer rooms, the outpatient or 1day endoscopic
unit and the hospital admission for more complex operative
hysteroscopies, laparoscopies or microsurgical interventions.
